Perform sterile capillary prick /venipuncture for the collection of blood sample and to ensure quality products throughout the phlebotomy process.

Responsibilities

• Proper vein identification
• Adhere to lab safety and quality control measures
• Ability to use Laboratory Information System
• Verifies the electronic test ordered in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and proper labeling of samples with the generated barcodes
• Carry out lab reception work, send out samples, and assist in placing reagents and supplies request and arranging the received items
• Draw blood from patients of different age group in the correct collection tubes and containers
• Proper practice in case of emergency (fainting and bleeding)
• Alerts the technician and lab receptionist about urgent specimens
• Perform the required duties for POCT (Point Of Care Testing)
• Answers phone calls inquiries
• Proper identification for each lab request
• Work in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures of DDI Clinical Laboratory
• Maintain confidentiality of patient results or identity
• Ensure that no record/result is utilized or leaves the lab without an authorized reason
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Head of Unit

Required Skills and Expertise:

• Minimum 4 years’ previous experience
• Good knowledge on Microsoft word applications
• Experience with either ACI or CAP Accreditation programs
• Ability to perform all phlebotomy work
• Strong communication skills when dealing with physicians, nurses and patients
• Fluency in writing / speaking English
• Basic Arabic

Other Comments:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab Technology (MLT) or Diploma
