About the role

Dodricom is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Medical Research Director to lead and oversee the organization's medical research activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing research strategies, supervising medical research projects, coordinating multidisciplinary research teams, and ensuring that studies are conducted according to recognized scientific, ethical, and regulatory standards.

This position requires a strong understanding of medical research methodologies, clinical study processes, data interpretation, and research management. The Medical Research Director will work closely with healthcare professionals, researchers, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to identify research opportunities and translate findings into meaningful medical and scientific outcomes.

The ideal candidate will combine strong scientific expertise with leadership, project-management, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the organization's medical research strategy and priorities.
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of medical and clinical research studies.
  • Oversee research protocols, study methodologies, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Provide scientific and medical guidance to researchers and project teams.
  • Ensure research activities follow applicable ethical standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Review and interpret clinical and scientific data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, scientists, statisticians, healthcare professionals, and external research partners.
  • Monitor research projects from initiation through completion and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • Review research proposals, protocols, informed-consent materials, reports, and scientific documentation.
  • Support the preparation of research manuscripts, presentations, abstracts, and publications.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships with universities, hospitals, research organizations, and other institutions.
  • Stay current with developments in medical science, clinical research methodologies, and relevant regulations.
  • Mentor and develop members of the medical research team.
  • Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

QualificationsRequired

  • Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) or an advanced degree such as a PhD in medicine, biomedical sciences, clinical research, public health, pharmacy, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in medical, clinical, biomedical, or healthcare research, with demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research methodology, study design, and research ethics.
  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable research regulations.
  • Experience managing research projects, including timelines, resources, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Strong ability to evaluate scientific literature and interpret medical or clinical research data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external research partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification or postgraduate medical specialization, where applicable.
  • Master's degree or PhD in a research-related discipline.
  • Experience with clinical trials, observational studies, or translational research.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and research/data-management tools.
  • Peer-reviewed publications or demonstrated contribution to scientific research.
  • Experience working with institutional review boards/ethics committees or regulatory authorities.
  • Professional certification in clinical research, such as ACRP-CP, CCRC, or SOCRA, is an advantage.
  • Previous experience managing multidisciplinary research teams or research departments.
