BP provides a decent work life balance, but the culture is changing. Benefits are great. Compensation is good, but could be better. Overall good company, but could be better.

The company focuses on developing recently hired staff by current management. Turnover on management causes organizational changes and you may loose career track. Benefits are good if you get them while employed; company could modernized its benefits offer (retirement) to move with the person if they are exited before retirement which is very likely.

The BP grounds are beautiful and are great to walk around when you have time off. Facilities were great within the buildings, gym and cafeteria. Management changed and there was a lot of turnover but overall it is a great place to work.

Organizations in the company face reorg every 2 years, especially after Deep Water Horizon incident. These days, reorg means layoffs. Dreams of retiring from the company are now farfetched for most, and possibly obtainable by a chosen few.

Still a ways to go for goals of diversity and inclusion, especially at the pinnacle of the organization. Everyone looks the same for the vast majority...look up photos of top level executive leadership for examples.

If you can survive layoffs, good place to work hard, earn a descent to good salary, maybe work-life balance, but for most, no realistic opportunities to advance to higher levels.
Pros
Salary
Cons
Layoffs, Opportunities to transition and advance are limited

Typical day is full production mode, no time for breaks. Lofty management goals paired with weak infrastructure makes it hard to advance the company to its full potential. Hardest part of the job is to keep up with the average minimum of 50-60 hours per week. Nothing enjoyable about this job, worst mistake ever made.
Pros
Free phone for easy access, good Universal Life insurance option
Cons
Micromanaged on breaks, hours worked, workflow, no work/life balance

I work with a great group of people I love the job culture. I can balance both work and personal time. They hardest part of my job is being away from my family at times the most enjoyable is making a difference. As a safety professional I can influence employees to take care of themselves and each other.
Pros
The money is great
Cons
Not enough hours in a day to complete the task

BP is excellent if you are placed in a job that is permanent and not on the list of lay offs. The company is going through massive reorgs which affects your every day job with stressing about wondering if you are next to be cut. Everyone is tense and afraid most of the time. They promote a speak up culture, but it is not exactly very well welcomed. Lots of tension in the air. The Company moves very slow with everything. Very stressing place to work and they are good about work/life balance but you still take the stress home with you.
Pros
Work/life balance, great benefits, nice people
Cons
reorg, cutting budgets everywhere, no job stability, many lay offs, a lot of backstabbing
