BP is a great company to work for. The only downside to working for BP is the management style. BP cannot sustain change because it's too easy for operations personnel to say no to any program BP pours millions of dollars into with the goal of improving the bottom line. And, when you are the one on the bottom of the totem pole trying to implement those changes and you get absolutely no support from upper management, it gets to be very frustrating.
Awesome compensation package and relatively stress-free environment.
Weak management style
Overall great company, personally approve of where management is taking it in the future to be more environmentally friendly, whether or not people outside the company see it that way. Very good benefits and pay, including 401k match, pension, and affordable insurance rates. Sometimes a bit of a conservative culture (it is an oil company after all) but if you're fine with following the rules and dealing with high stress at times, it's worth it.
The roll-out of a new directive created a great challenge for many people and choices had to be made to either follow the guidelines or to not. Those that followed the expectations have been removed or replaced within the company and those that did not follow it remain. The co-workers thrived at making the system work but struggle with why one office followed the rules and the other did not. It sent a lot of mixed messages. The hardest part of the job was standing firm with the process despite the outcome of job loss as the process was designed to save the company a significant amount of money. The most enjoyable part was working with the folks at the center of the roll-out and learning about the new software application and what makes it function properly.
Great Team Members, Enjoyed the Technical Aspect of Leadership
Misdirected, unsupported system and process at the local and upper level of leaders
Creating the Operations Employees of the refinery 2-3-2 work schedules, filled vacant overtime put in vacations and answered emails from Supervisors, Scheduled the medical physicals for all of the refinery so that they would not become out of compliance.

Thats team work mood does motivate and help to feel yourself as employee confident, do respect Company's values and follow procedures easily.
Fantastic hours. Great pay. Wonderful benefits. Training could have been better. Local is better than governing body in Texas. Not an easy job but compensation and benefits are good. Not sure they are still treating people well but for the majority of my time there it was great.
