Students and trainees do well at CGI. Most senior technical staff move from here early. Pay is low. No bonuses. Middle management is terrible. There are worse places to work but there are a lot better too...

CGI is a great company and I enjoy working for them. The one downfall is they want you to sell something before you build it versus build then sell. This is a downfall in my mind as the building is hurried and not vetted out.
Pros
Great work life balance
Cons
Proximity Model, means if you don't work where you client is you are always fearful for your job.

They have a lot of projects, but definitely have the worst working environment. There is always micro management. People have been appointed as managers with no domain knowledge. All they do is keep track of your coffee and bathroom breaks. There is no appreciation whatsoever. If you do not speak french, you'll always be treated as an outsider. They hire you for one position and start billing you for multiple projects. There is pressure from multiple projects and they make sure you do not have even 1 hour of peace in the whole day.

Good place to start, but they took advantage of lack of experience with low salary, then it was tough to renegotiate once I gained the necessary experience.

CGI is a very good organizations to work for although as consultant your job security is relatively insecure. They provide good training opportunities .

CGI is an interesting place to work. Not your typical consulting company. This has advantages and disadvantages. This requires adjustment for some people.

Bonne chance.

Good stepping stone company but treats people as numbers. Management are forced to reduce headcount often but at least younger people can gain some experience.
Pros
Hires a lot, big company, possibility to advance
Cons
Forces unpaid leave, lots of red tape

management is inexperienced and needs alot of improvements before it can be a good place to work at. and you're not paid enough for the work you do over there. so you're mostly overworked, underpaid with bad management

It's a great experience to have in your CV, IT Experience is demanded. Sometimes the schedule changes a lot and maybe that's because there are always people leaving the company and new ones arriving...

I think the level of satisfaction depends on what business unit you end up in. If it's Operations, chances are you're better off elsewhere. Project... seems like they give you the moon. Better work hours, annual bonuses, etc. I'm not complaining too much because I chose to stay in this job. I was much happier when I worked remotely, but policy has changed and everyone is compelled to work in the office. This has greatly upset my work / life balance. The locations in Montreal do not have free parking, but most are easily accessible by public transit. Food options tend to be limited, so pack a lunch as well.
