the co workers are GREAT. but NOT THE MANAGEMENT who are assigned at Charleston Passport Center. I've reported a harassments case and NOTHING has been done and I was ignored. The work is easy. The pay is ok for simple admin work. The training and advancement is something YOU CANT look forward too.Favoritism is very much obvious. For the sake of having a temp job this is a good one but if you can't stand the FAKE and not supportive management Do not work with CGI
no management support
They don't keep their word on compensation. Promotion is from who you know not what you know or performance. Layoffs are. Random without 2 week notice. They treat federal workers with compassion and respect and make is sit through meetings praising promotion and compassion of federal workers and disregard contract workers.
17 hr wage to 20. Insurance is Cigna 401
No in house human resources for 400 workers. No promotion no respect.
I won't say DO NOT WORK here, but do if you do, don't work at Seattle or have an exit strategy if you do. Yes, compension is somewhat higher than minimum wage in Seattle currently, especially if you do not have a bachelors' degree. However, the management of the contract staff is absolutely horrible. You will be monitored heavily when you come back from break and lunch times and if you're late, it will be characterized as time theft. Management will guilt you for taking PAID time off, quote, "if you stay home or call in, then someone else has do YOUR JOB and that's not fair." Sorry, but that's the modern work life, that employees get sick and need to take time, especially if you have sick kids or kids at all during this crisis, prepare to be guilted. Production is all they care about, and reporting good numbers to govwernment staff, and you will be treated like a number. The passport manager has a strong problem with nepotism and will act like you are invisible if you are any kind of "othered" person (non-white, older, disabled). Government staff will also treat you as less than because you're a contractor. Work stops once you get home and like I said, compensation is slightly better than minimum and it's not labor intensive, mostly boring paper pushing ands processing. \
Work/Life: Work stops once you get home.
Where should I start? Promotions are not even based on skill set but rather who sucks up and who managers like. People that are actually good at their jobs get passed over for promotions feels like high school.
benefits good location downtown dc
too much favortism lack of good pay for the work done
You must be in a click or you do not survive they will badger you until you quit or they walk you out!
If you have a flat tire be to work on time! No vacation or sick leave. Once you are targeted they will eventually get you out. Once I had an altercation with a Supervisor I was called out on any incident when others around me were not.....brown nose your super. Loved my job and co workers, though the supervisors and up need yraining
Help us improve!
Is Indeed your favorite place to learn about companies?
its a contract position, So the federal employees make all feel like second class citizens. The Higher ups do the same also
Not a good place at all. Horrible managers and they do not CARE at all about their employees!! benefits are a joke! No sick time at ALL and you only accrue 1.54 hours of vacation time. Oh yeah and if u happen to run 3 mins late..it will be coming out of your little bit of time you accrue!
In Charleston, WE are the LOWEST paid Passport Specialists in the Country! Department of State and CGI blame SC Labor Rates and tell us to pressure our Congressmen to update and improve these. Our Congressmen tell us it is in the hands of the Department of State. Production levels are constantly being raised as our pay stays STAGNATE. Only Pay advances are if you can get Promoted but those positions are few and EXTREMELY Difficult to achieve unless Military or Military Dependent. Health Benefits are ok. PTO is also lower than most other jobs in the area. There is NO SICK LEAVE. Unions are not allowed but often discussed among Production members. No sign of pay improvement on the Horizon. Be grateful! Dress down days and months are rampant! You can give to Community by donating blood, food, or money. But do it on your own time!
Job Security as long as Public needs passports and you can make Production
Production must be met; no Career Counseling or Guidance; TERRIBLE PAY!
Benefits and vacation time along with hourly wage should be a better pay, if not from the U.S Department of State, then CGI should step up with higher hourly wage in order to keep good workers!
management HORRIBLE from the team leads to the supervisors, no paid vaca or sick time, and their policies make no sense, turnover rate at an all time HIGH
They sugar coat to get you in... No room for advancement or growth.. no raises or pay raises ever... company is contract based so that means the contract can be for 5 yrs and extend til 10 year or more... revolving door of employees they never stay long
Gossip like little kids. Cant take your complaints to your leads because they take everything personal. Competitive, childish, management on internet all night. Belittled and spoke to like your stupid. Got harsh for taking so much time off. Possible Termination once you run out of PTO and leave without pay
This job is better for a child fresh out of high school with no plans of going to college. You don't get raises so if you have a "price of living increase" cherish that money while it last. If you plan on growing, you might as well keep on scrolling. They don't care for their employees who has been with the company for 10 plus years, they treat those employees as if they don't exist. They should pay their employees way more for the work that is asked of them, plus you don't get any sick time and they will fire you if god forbid you get sick and go over the leave without pay which you have to use because you only accrue 2 hours every week. It takes 4 months to get a week of vacation and you have to use your PTO before you use the "LWOP" that is "GIVEN" to you. Don't expect a bonus no matter how hard you work, it doesn't matter.
Weekends off/ Paid Federal Holidays
Pto/ supervisors/ leave/ no raises/ no sick time/fake policies/ no vacations.
6 yrs without a review or wage increase. No respect or recognition for long term employees. Poor health insurance policies and annual bonuses. The job itself is enjoyable but the environment is tough because people are very upset with CGI for taking 8% of the night shift differential away.
This office has multiple teams that work together to process passports. All new hires go to mail processing. Expect to be busy from the moment you walk in until you clock out. No internet access in most desk and managers are pretty set on keeping you busy at all times. Wok volume varies but you will always have something to do.
Easy tasks with little learning curve
Not a lot of room for advancement
