Description of Job Family: Job Families are groupings of jobs related by common factors. Accordingly, they have many similarities. Jobs in a job family are similar in that they Require similar knowledge, skills and abilities (competencies). They have a continuum of knowledge, skills and abilities that represent a career path from the lowest to the highest level job.
For example, all Administration jobs like Secretary, Admin officer, etc. are grouped in the Admin Job Family, even though these titles may be in different departments across ITS. The reason to group them in one job family is because this is the growth pattern for the Admin oriented jobs.
Description of Job Band: There are different Job titles based on the tasks and responsibilities of the job holder, Job Banding groups Jobs which are almost within the same years of experience and knowledge required into broad bands. These bands help to identify Job titles eligibility for certain benefits and also compliments the Job Families to identify their career progressions.
